“HIGTON HOTEL”
This hotel was built with the anticipation of access to the railroad, but the railroad routing changed and the hotel never became a viable business. At least, that is what I think happened, which resulted in abandoning the hotel. The hotel is still a nice photo opportunity if you feel like trying to find it in Reliance, Tennessee.

 “PINK POST OFFICE’
This is one, if not the smallest, post office in the country Located on US 41 in Ochopee, Florida. The post office was painted pink by volunteers in October to highlight “Breast Cancer Awareness Month”.  The post office was repainted white in November.

“SLAVE QUARTERS DETAIL”
The Kingsley Plantation is located on Fort George Island near Jacksonville, Florida. The plantation consists of the main house, kitchen house, barn and the ruins of 25 original slave cabins. This is a detail of one of the walls.

“FERNANDINA BEACH PORCH #1”
Fernandina Beach is a lovely historic town on Amelia Island, Florida. The town is beautiful and the historic homes are well maintained. Its rich history included rich people, like the Vanderbilt’s, who spent the winters in the warmer climate.

“FORT CLINCH”
Fort Clinch was under construction when the Civil War ended. It never saw action, and remains one of the most complete forts in the country. The fort is located on Amelia Island, Florida. Worth a visit if you are in the area.

“COWAN TEXACO”
This vintage gas station is located in Cowan, Tennessee about 10 miles east of I-24 near the Monteagle, Tennessee exit. This gas station was refurbished and is the office for their Historical Society. Kaddy corner to the station is a refurbished train depot with a steam locomotive and some railroad cars.
